FAZZA Championship for Falconry

Ariba Celcom was proud to be in attendance at the annual FAZZA Championship for Falconry. The Fazza Heritage Championships, held under the direct patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, bring together thousands of professionals and amateurs from different cultures to compete in various traditional sporting disciplines.

This was a great opportunity to highlight Kenwood's amateur radios (a longtime favourite of hunting and desert sport enthusiasts), as well as the new license-free PKT-23 radios and Diamond Antenna accessories.

How to Spot Fake Diamond Antennas

Anyone familiar with the radio industry knows that you always have to be on the lookout for fake products. This is especially true for accessories from well known brands, such as Diamond Antenna.

The best way to know you are getting a genuine product is to buy them from Ariba Celcom or one of our authorised resellers. As the sole importers of Diamond Antenna from Japan, we can guarantee our products are 100% genuine.

However here is an interesting discussions on how to spot fake Diamond Antennas:

Triple-Digital Radios – An Industry First!

The KENWOOD NX-5000 SeriesNow Supports DMR as well as NXDN & P25 Protocols for Maximum Flexibility
KENWOOD continues to invest its extensive experience and acclaimed technologies in NEXEDGE, an innovative digital communications solution that satisfies the most stringent requirements of today’s mission-critical radio users. And with the new addition of DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) support, NEXEDGE leaps further ahead of the competition: NX-5000 Series portable and mobile radios are compatible with three different digital protocols – NXDN, DMR and P25 (Phase 1 & 2) – enabling them to serve in all public sector, commercial and public safety roles with flawless performance and advanced feature sets.

DMR support

DMR is an open radio standard established in 2005 by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for commercial communications. It uses 2-slot TDMA in a 12.5 kHz channel, effectively doubling the capacity of existing 12.5 kHz equipment. This provides smooth communications and coordination for staff in a wide variety of commercial environments, including retail, hospitality and manufacturing.

Compatibility with the DMR AIS IP Console Interface facilitates radio dispatch operations, while Call Interruption is ideal for security guards. Digital DMR Data Services and Remote Monitoring are among several other benefits.

With the addition of DMR support, the NX-5000 Series now offers unsurpassed interoperability and flexibility. A single NX-5000 radio can simultaneously support two digital protocols plus FM analog, offering the following combinations: FM/DMR/NXDN, FM/NXDN/P25, and FM/DMR/P25.

Whether it’s nationwide enterprises building large-scale trunked networks with NXDN, staff staying in touch via DMR or first responders maintaining vital contact with P25 – the NX-5000 Series has a clear digital advantage.

Kenwood Launching New TS-590SG HF/50MHz Transceiver

Since the original TS-590S first went on-air in 2010 it enjoyed a fine reputation for its excellent receive performance, its great audio and affordable pricing and now by adopting some of the technology developed for Kenwood's flagship model TS-990S, the TS-590′s TX and RX performance have been further improved.
New Features Include:

  • Advanced AGC control through digital signal processing from the IF stage onward featuring all of the IF DSP AGC technology developed with the TS-990S.

  • The RIT/XIT/CL keys can also be used as programmable function keys.

In addition to conventional split frequency setting methods, the TS-990′s proven split setting functionality has been included. Kenwood NEXEDGE® System at London Bridge Station

Already one of the busiest rail transport hubs in the UK, London Bridge Station is preparing itself for a 10% increase in passengers by 2018.
London Bridge mainline railway station is one of the oldest in the UK and has been the subject of numerous rebuilding and improvement programmes in its 178 year history. The current development of the station will result in a concourse covering 10,500m2 in anticipation of managing the 55 million passengers likely to be transiting through it when completed in 2018.

As part of the £6.5 billion London Thameslink project which will increase rail capacity, frequency and connections running north to south through the centre of London, the station is undergoing a major redevelopment programme which started in 2013 and is scheduled for completion in 2018.

The project will effectively flatten the existing building to its Victorian foundations to create a new station with a concourse larger than the pitch at Wembley Stadium which will sit under the tracks and sixteen extended platforms – not a simple feat in such a busy part of a capital city and made even more challenging as the station will be kept open throughout the process.

The development is now in full swing with an ‘army’ of contractors are operating in and around the station 24 hours a day.

Keeping 300,000 passengers from 2,500 trains each day safe and informed.

The Network Rail team managing safety, security and delivering operational efficiency at London Bridge Station is led by Station Manager Denis Kirk who is supported by five Station Shift Managers operating in three shifts six days a week. The station is only closed for three hours each day between 1am and 4am for cleaning, maintenance and repairs.

The station team took delivery of their new Kenwood NEXEDGE® digital radio communications system during 2013, ahead of major station redevelopment works commencing. The design of the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to deliver 100% coverage throughout the station, both above and below the ground, was carried out by Affini Technology Ltd who, as an approved Kenwood partner, also installed, programmed and commissioned the NEXEDGE® digital radio system comprising repeaters and hand portable radios.

The NEXEDGE® digital conventional system installed at the station comprises one base station, two repeaters and 120 hand-portable radios – and is programmed to operate in both digital and analogue modes.

“All of the Network Rail and train operating companies staff based at the station are equipped with radios, so too are the British Transport Police officers who can monitor our channels to keep informed on situations. The radios are our primary communications tool and I can say without fear of contradiction that all staff feel much safer because the new NEXEDGE® system provides 100% coverage of the station, something the previous analogue system just wasn’t able to do”.
